1. The short version

We collect one thing, and only if you hand it to us: your email address, so we can send you teardowns. There is no account, no login, no advertising network, and no profile built about you. You can have your address deleted at any time by asking.

2. Who is responsible

3. What we collect

• Your email address, if you submit the subscribe form. We use it to send you new teardowns and to let you unsubscribe. We do not sell it, rent it, or share it for marketing.
• Server logs. Our web server records standard request data — IP address, timestamp, requested page, user agent — as part of operating and securing the site.
• Analytics and measurement. Where a measurement or advertising pixel is deployed on this site, it is disclosed here and may set cookies or similar identifiers on your device in order to measure how the site is used and how visitors arrive.

4. What we do not collect

We do not ask for your name, your employer, your wallet address, or any payment details. The site has no login and no user accounts. We do not attempt to identify individual readers.

5. Cookies

The site's own pages set no cookies of their own and require none to function. Any cookies or similar identifiers present come from a measurement or advertising pixel as described above. You can block or delete cookies in your browser; the site will continue to work.

6. Legal basis

We process your email address on the basis of your consent, which you give by submitting the form and may withdraw at any time. We process server logs on the basis of our legitimate interest in operating and securing the site.

7. Sharing and processors

We share personal data only with service providers who help us run the site and send the newsletter — a hosting provider and an email delivery provider — and only to the extent they need it. They act on our instructions. We do not sell personal data. We may disclose data where we are legally required to.

8. Retention

We keep your email address for as long as you remain subscribed, and delete it promptly after you unsubscribe. Server logs are retained for a short operational period and then deleted or aggregated.

9. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or port your personal data, to object to processing, and to withdraw consent. To exercise any of these, email privacy@readrootcause.com. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

10. Security

The site is served over HTTPS. We keep the data we hold to a minimum, which is the most reliable security measure available to us. No system is perfectly secure, and we do not claim otherwise.

11. Children

This site is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them.

12. Changes

We may update this policy. The “last updated” date above always reflects the current version.
